Financial Assistance For Veterans

Home Loans
|
|
After separation from
service, the VA will guarantee your loan for the purchase of a home,
manufactured home, or condominium. You may apply for the Certificate of
Eligibility either:
|
•
|
through our office which
is then submitted to the Veterans Administration in Winston-Salem, NC.
(Allow 6-8 weeks for a reply)
or
|
|
•
|
through the
VA Regional Office in Pittsburgh (Room 401) which can provide the
certificate the same day.
|
To obtain this certificate,
you must provide a certified copy of your discharge papers (DD214).
Reservists with 6 years of
service may also be eligible (Your reserve unit can provide you with
documentation -DD2384).
Once you obtain the
Certificate of Eligibility, your lending institute will assist you
|

|
|
|
Disability
Compensation
|
|
Monetary benefits, called
disability compensation are paid to veterans who are disabled by injury or
disease incurred or aggravated during military service. The amount paid varies
with the degree of disability and is paid monthly. Payments are made from the
date of separation if the claim is filed within one year of separation.
Our office will assist with the
completion of the required forms and follow through with the claim until
completed. |

Non-Service Connected Disability Pension
|
|
Veterans with low incomes who
are permanently and totally disabled may be eligible for monetary support if
they have 90 days of active military service, one day of which was during a
period of war and character of service is under conditions other than
dishonorable. Contact our office for more information on this program

Survivors
Benefits
|
|
Surviving spouses who have
not remarried,
unmarried children under 18,
those between 18-23 if attending a VA-approved school,
may be eligible for benefits under certain circumstances.

Veterans
Emergency Assistance
|
|
Pennsylvania wartime veterans
or widows of a wartime veteran, who experience a sudden loss of income within
the last 180 days may apply for a 3 month assistance program.
You must provide:

current rent or mortgage
receipt
|
|
•
|
gas, oil or electric bills
|
|
•
|
any documented out of pocket
monthly medical expense
|
|
•
|
amount paid for food
|
|
•
|
marriage certificate
|
|
•
|
birth certificate of
dependants
|
|
•
|
and a letter from the former
employer stating the date last worked and the reason why you are no longer
working
|

Unemployment Compensation
|
|
While this benefit may be
available to all veterans, the requirements and benefits vary from state to
