Financial Information - Procedure

Effective January 1, 2009, PA Rule of Judicial Administration 509 was amended in order to facilitate public access to financial records of the Unified Judicial System including trial courts and court departments. In Beaver County, a "judicial agency" includes the Court of Common Pleas, Adult Probation office, Juvenile Services Division, Domestic Relations office, the Magisterial District Courts and the Law Library.

A request to inspect or obtain copies of financial records pursuant to this rule and in the possession and control of the above mentioned Court offices must be made in writing to the Beaver County Court Records Manager. Requests for financial records or any of the above entities must be submitted on a Rule 509 Request Form. A request may be submitted in person, by mail, e-mail or facsimile using this form.

A request should identify or describe the record( s) sought with sufficient specificity to enable the Court Records Manager to ascertain the appropriate records being requested. The Court Records Manager will process the request as promptly as possible under the circumstances existing at the time of the request. All financial records are accessible to the public except for information that is exempted pursuant to Pennsylvania Rule of Judicial Administration 509(b).

The requestor, within fifteen (15) business days of notification of the decision, may appeal a denial to the President Judge of the Court of Common Pleas of Beaver County at:

President Judge
Court of Common Pleas of Beaver County
Beaver County Courthouse
810 Third Street
Beaver, PA 15009

Reasonable costs incurred in providing public access to records may be charged pursuant to this rule. Similarly, the Court Records Manager may require a requestor to prepay an estimate of fees associated with the request, if the fees are expected to exceed $100.
