The Beaver County Victim/Witness Assistance Project is a sub-division of the Beaver County District Attorney’s Office.   The Victim/Witness Office employs a full-time Director, Assistant Director, Counselor/Advocate, and Juvenile Advocate.  These positions are 100% grant funded through the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency.

The job of the Victim/Witness Office is to ensure that victims and witnesses of crime know of the rights and services afforded them by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and to ensure that they receive them.  Victim Advocates accompany, support, and explain.  They prepare victims and witnesses for whatever follows violence; from immediate needs to the final stages of the Criminal Justice System.  A crime victim’s experience with the Criminal Justice System is a difficult one.  We strive to guide victims through these experiences with the compassion and dignity that they deserve.  Advocates work with all victims of crime, from bad check cases to homicide.

The Victim/Witness Office strives to make a crime victim feel whole again whether it be physically, emotionally, or financially.  The Victim/Witness Office will make any necessary referrals to support groups, counselors, or other agencies for assistance.

The Victim/Witness Assistance Project also offers the opportunity to be enrolled in state and county offender release notification programs when a defendant is incarcerated.  These programs ensure that a victim is notified when an offender is released, transferred, or escapes from county jail or state prison.
